Not A Good Day For Me, But Hope Is Resurfacing In The Gulf
Ugh, today was not fun. I don't like migranes, they are pure evil. I feel much better now though, if anyone cares (which I hope they do). Anyway, I'm not going to ramble on about my day and how bad it was because that's cruel, so I'll let you know about what's going on in the news. Well, first of all after coming under fire because of the response to Hurricane Katrina, Mike Brown, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) resigned today. Brown has also come under fire recently about his qualifications. When the president was asked about as he toured the devasted city of Gulfport, Mississippi, President Bush said he would not comment. Slowly, the gigantic pumps in New Orleans are coming back online, and the city is beginning to drain, and at last, there appears to be hope in a city hit and hurt so hard. The hundreds of workers at the Sewage and Water Board are exhausted to put it lightly. They have been working 24-7 to get the pumps back online and start to get the city of New Orleans drained. Not an easy task at all. It's going to be very difficult to get the city dry with electrical systems waterlogged and debris of all kind, including bodies, to deal with. Until they get all the pumps working the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have brought in some portable pumps to begin draining the city. Alone, though, they won't do the job. Water levels have gone down noticeably in the last few days, but water still covers an estimated 50 percent of the city. Oh, one more piece of news. There is a book out about the gigantic search engine site, Google. It's called The Search by John Battelle. That's the news for now. I'll talk to people later. Have a good night.
