Uh-Oh, More Hurricanes A-Coming As NASA Unveils Something Familiar
Well, once again, like last week, I had a good morning and a crappy afternoon, courtsey of a migrane. Once again, though, like last week, I'm not going to annoy or bore you with my problems because they're mine and I'll get over them, and other people in the world have much bigger problems. So, as the title states, more hurricanes are on there way. Tropical Storm (not a hurricane, yet) Rita was clocked at 70 mph at 2 PM ET, just 4 mph short of hurricane strength. Rita's center was 165 miles southeast of the Bahamian capital, Nassau, moving west-northwest at 14 mph. A hurricane warning is in effect for the Exumas and for Andros Island in the Bahamas and in Florida from Golden Beach southward to Florida City and westward to East Cape Sable. The warning also includes the Keys from Ocean Reef to the Dry Tortugas. Tourists were to told to leave the Keys on Sunday. Miami-Dade County is also under a hurricane warning (hope my folks there will be ok). It's expected that Rita will become a hurricane sometime Monday night. The storm has also caused New Orleans Mayor Ragin to stop allowing residents to come back for fears that this storm may also hit New Orleans. Meanwhile, NASA today unveiled their moon program to get humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars. The space ship and it's parts are very reminiscent of the Apollo shuttles and landers. NASA Adminstrator Michael Griffin was aware of this and told reporters in Washington, "Think of it as Apollo on steriods." Here is a link to a site explaining the mission as well as artists rendering of the new shuttle. Here's the link: NASA's New Spaceship. Below is the path of Tropical Storm Rita, courtsey of the National Hurricane Center, superimposed over a satellite image of the area, courtsey of Google Earth.
